Blogrolling: On being a scientist and a woman

October 1, 2007

I want to note that the Borg (ScienceBlogs™) has picked up ScienceWoman’s blog “On being a scientist and a woman“, previously here.  Not that she needs any more advertising from me!

However, it is worth pointing out that she will apparently be talking topics near and dear to YHN including lessons learned and other careerism in science issues, grant/career strategies, etc. And that was all in the first week!

Go read.

In all seriousness — who can keep track of which of the 20 interchangeable Dr. Woman Female Scientist Grrrrl blogs is which? Let alone their commenters (ScientistMom, MommyScientist,…)?

You’d think that after the 10th or 15th identically named blog, it would start to dawn on them that being a woman in a scientific field that’s full of women (which pretty much all of them are) doesn’t make them nearly as unique as they seem to imagine.

Oh well, at least ScienceBlogs didn’t go with yet another grad student ranting and raving about obscure creationists, and glorying in Science even though he’s never published anything. It’s interesting how neatly their male and female biologists segregate into topics, no?
