“Before we talk about genetic differences, we need to come up with a system with equal opportunity and then we can have that conversation”. Very, very well said.

Nobody noticed the deft way NDT jumped in there before Richard Dawkins could make a dick of himself? I thought that question was clearly asking for Dawkins to say something stupid.

The power of diversity! I wish that such reflection on and extrapolation from one’s life experiences would also occur more often to those who are the recipient of all the good things…and all the passes (like that thief).
Can we make this mandatory listening?

Spot on. He told the security anecdote in his memoir IIRC (read it a long time ago) and it strikes me as such a perfect anti parallel to the other familiar phenomenon, where a woman (or black man?) makes a suggestion and it goes ignored until a white man says it….We attribute actions, both good and bad, based so deeply on our expectations.

C’mon DM. It’s not like women who want to do science in the US have to mutilate their genitals or anything. They’ve got it pretty damn good relatively speaking, so, like, why can’t they just get over it or whatever?
