I read this just after eating pancakes with that exact brand of syrup! Yum.

You are such a typical member of your generation, DM. This illogical “oh, I’ve got mine, therefore there is no problem with other people not having any”. Who do you think you are, Mitt Romney???

You know what the lack of syrup will cause? War and famine.

No maple syrup increases the demand for that High Fructose Corn Syrup fenugreek flavored crap. Which no one should ever eat, of course, as it causes miscarriages and cancer. But people will. Which will increase the demand for corn EVEN MORE, in a year where drought has already decimated supplies. Which will in turn drive up global food prices, causing famine in Africa (we know this will happen, because adding ethanol to gas did the exact same thing). This is what causes war.

The lack of syrup isn’t a problem because people’s pancakes will not be as coated in deliciousness (though that is a Tragedy in it’s own right!). No, it’s the downstream consequences that worry me.
But what does DM do? He trivializes it, all the while pretending to take it seriously. *tsk tsk*

“The best syrup comes from NH.”

But nobody thinks it’s worth stealing $30M worth and storing it in his lab cooler …
