    I’ve definitely heard things at academic presentations that might have well been boo’s. Loud sighing, sarcastic questions, etc.

    Agree with Bashir. My favorite was one that a super snarky person used to throw out at defenses: “…did you mis-speak?” Said in the right tone, that thing could bring a room to -80 in 0.25 sec.
