Steely gazed PI
May 17, 2011
It would never have occurred to me that being a scientist who lives on NIH, NSF or other major grant funding required nerves of steel.
But seriously people, the crying and handwringing over at writedit’s and Sally Rockey’s blogs…….
Nerves can be a good thing…if they keep you alert, motivated and on your toes. We’re well past that now and into chicken-with-head-cut-off territory.
FFS, keep it TOGETHER, my friends. She who keeps a firm grip on the reins is going to come out of this just fine.
Now get back to work on your R01 for the June submission….

Well, GR, it does suck to go from a 12%ile to a 51%ile score on a revision. ouch.
but then they rapidly descend into “FACTUAL ERRORS” as their assumed reason. Can the accusation of “INCOMPETENT REVIEWERS” be far behind?

Oh no doubt it sucks, don’t go parading your work as the great cure to childhood illness. That card is played out indeed. I’m sure Maggie is saying to herself that it is totally incompetent reviewers or the study section just doesn’t get how vital their multi-centre (um who cares how many sites) proposal is.

Just make sure you’ll still have a decent-sized staff available after the rapture on 5/21 to do the work outlined in the grant. Better start informal polls now!
